PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julio Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dorian Prine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Julio Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dorian Prine!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Prine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Petersen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Prine is controlling him well.

Prine thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Petersen can't do much from the bottom here.
Prine laying and praying for a moment but Petersen takes advantage and regains half guard.
Prine perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petersen pushes Prine off looking to stand but Prine dives back in and keeps control.
Petersen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Prine.

Prine is looking for a kimura here.

Prine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petersen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Prine in particular looking to stall.

Petersen is defending against the submission attempts here by Prine.

Petersen has one foot on Prine's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Prine throws a body punch but Petersen moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Prine.

Prine swings around for an armbar but Petersen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Prine's guard.
Petersen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Petersen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Prine wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Prine is on top in guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Prine drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petersen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Prine has Petersen in his guard.

Prine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Petersen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Petersen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Petersen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Prine not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Petersen's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Petersen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Prine has a closed guard, preventing Petersen from standing up.

That was a close round but I would say that Julio Petersen will probably get the nod.

The fight stays on the outside here - Petersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Prine controls Petersen momentarily but Petersen frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petersen is stalling in the full guard.
Prine keeping moving, preventing Petersen from controlling successfully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Petersen wants to stand and escape but instead Prine has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Prine works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Petersen is not content to let Prine control the position.
Petersen is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Petersen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Prine looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Prine trying to control the action but Petersen is working from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Prine wants to pass the guard but Petersen is defending well.

Prine looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Prine is stalling here. Petersen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Prine seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Petersen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Prine sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dorian Prine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Prine looks to land a combination but Petersen avoids it well.
Prine just misses with a punch to the body.
Prine loads up on a big right hand but Petersen slips the punch.
Petersen moves out of range of the body kick.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Petersen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Petersen throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Prine throws the kick towards the body but Petersen avoids it.
Prine scores with a sloppy right hand. Petersen should have avoided that one.

Prine moves into the clinch.

Petersen lands a takedown into guard.

Petersen stays in close to Prine's body and controls the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Prine is working an open guard so Petersen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Petersen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Prine tries a head kick but it misses.
Petersen appears to be looking for a big counter.
Petersen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Prine rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Petersen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Prine looks to land a right hand but Petersen moved out of range.

Prine gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Petersen.

Petersen is trying to trip Prine. He has hold of a leg but Prine is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Petersen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Prine wants to sweep but no luck.
Prine working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Petersen.

Petersen trying to control but Prine is working from the bottom.
Prine is pulling down on Petersen's head. It's preventing any offense from Petersen, at least for the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Prine misses with a wild combination.
Petersen tries to counter by clinching up but Prine breaks away and moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dorian Prine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Prine has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
