PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eugenio Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Red comes into a darkened arena with his song building. One Step Closer-LinkinPark kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Eugenio Hoover has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Eugenio Hoover seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eugenio Hoover!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Corey Red!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoover stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hoover wants it to stay on the feet.
Hoover swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Red lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hoover has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hoover and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Red jumps guard and drags Hoover to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hoover is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hoover is trying to maintain a safe position but Red gets an underhook and turns Hoover into the cage.
Red drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hoover pulls his leg out and moves away.

Red throws a head kick that misses.
Red fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hoover throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hoover tries to close the distance and clinch up but Red swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Red is trying to push Hoover away but Hoover has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Red holds on and takes a little breather.
Hoover loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hoover is fighting to break Red's control of his arms but Red is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hoover's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Red has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hoover uses from the top position.

Hoover swings wildly with an uppercut but Red uses good head movement to avoid it.

Corey Red showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Red bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hoover's guard.

Red seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hoover is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Corey Red comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Red has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
