PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ury Dikunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryszard Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ury Dikunov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryszard Nowak!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dikunov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dikunov wants it to stay on the feet.

Nowak fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dikunov, pushing him back against the cage.
Nowak has Dikunov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dikunov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dikunov is trying to trip Nowak. He has hold of a leg but Nowak is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dikunov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dikunov with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dikunov postures up in Nowak's guard and throws a big left but Nowak blocks it.
Dikunov lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dikunov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dikunov throws an elbow that misses. Nowak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dikunov's guard. Nice move by Nowak!

Nowak stands up over Dikunov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nowak must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nowak wants to control from the top but Dikunov keeps moving.

Dikunov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nowak defends well.

Dikunov tries to land a sweep but no joy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nowak is looking to work some ground and pound but Dikunov has wrist control.
Dikunov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dikunov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dikunov tries to get out of the position.
Nowak chips away with some ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dikunov is on top in guard.

Dikunov wants to control from the top but Nowak keeps moving.

Dikunov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dikunov distracts Nowak with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Dikunov wants to control from the top but Nowak keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nowak throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dikunov or perhaps it was just good defense by Nowak, which made it look bad.

Dikunov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nowak looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Dikunov creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dikunov tries to score with some ground and pound. Nowak controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Dikunov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nowak keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ury Dikunov dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dikunov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nowak tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dikunov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nowak somewhat.

Dikunov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dikunov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nowak can do to turn this around?

Dikunov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Dikunov passes the guard and advances to mount!

Nowak is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nowak trying desperately to get to his feet.

Dikunov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nowak is looking to escape.

Nowak is in a horrible position here. Dikunov smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Dikunov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


Nowak is rocked!
Dikunov unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Nowak wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Dikunov celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ury Dikunov!
