PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bret show (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Devor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). show comes to the cage accompanied by holly wood. Devor comes into a darkened arena with his song building. "Shadow on the Sun" kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
show tries to clinch up but Devor circles away and keeps his distance.

Devor shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
show is trying to stand up here but Devor is controlling him well.

Devor is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, show has managed to free his arm - good work.
Devor wants to pass the guard but show is defending well.

show knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Devor on the ground.

Devor works to advance to full mount. show defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Devor jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… show is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by show and Devor has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
show is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Devor asserts his dominance and retains side control.
show on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Devor scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at show to see if he's OK.

Devor is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, show has managed to escape the submission attempt.

show on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if show tries to get out of the position.

Devor scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Devor pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Devor lands a big shot there that rocks show but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

show is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Devor has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Devor advances to full mount.
show seems to have got his legs back now.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Devor looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Devor wants to finish this one by submission but show is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Devor.
BOOM! Devor connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Devor or perhaps it was just good defense by show which made him look bad.
show keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Devor shoots in but show avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bret show has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Devor.
A big left from Devor misses.
Devor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has show pinned against the cage. show gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Devor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with show but show pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Devor is breathing heavily.
show bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
show throws a head kick that misses.
Devor avoids the head kick by show.

Devor looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Devor lands with a punch from half guard.
Devor looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks show with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

show is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Devor won't let show get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

show is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Devor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Devor is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but show is surviving well by controlling Devor's body position as best he can.

Devor has control of show's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and show regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Devor is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Devor extends the arm and show is forced to tap!
