Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rune Banchamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Pappas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rune Banchamek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gus Pappas!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banchamek drives through with a takedown into Pappas's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Banchamek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Banchamek trying to control the position from guard on top but Pappas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Our spies down at at The Factory inform us that Pappas has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Banchamek controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banchamek working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Pappas is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Banchamek presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Pappas tries to break the clinch but Banchamek is controlling the position.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Pappas tries to stall but Banchamek uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Pappas is trying to break the clinch but Banchamek has him pressed against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Banchamek has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Banchamek lands a left hand.
Banchamek scores with a hook to the body.
Pappas can't break the clinch.
Banchamek lands a shoulder strike.
Banchamek has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pappas after a bit of a struggle.
Pappas has had enough of the clinch but Banchamek keeps him there for the moment.
Pappas working hard to break the clinch.

Pappas breaks from the clinch.
Pappas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gus Pappas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pappas enables Banchamek to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pappas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pappas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Banchamek is one step ahead there.

Banchamek drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Banchamek jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Banchamek slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Banchamek tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Banchamek has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pappas is looking to reverse the position.
Banchamek looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pappas is avoiding damage well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Banchamek working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Pappas is looking for a sweep.
Pappas is trying to control Banchamek's posture but Banchamek avoids it.
Pappas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Banchamek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Banchamek wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pappas, who protects the arm well.
Pappas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Pappas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Banchamek's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Banchamek! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Pappas has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Rune Banchamek!
A relieved looking Rune Banchamek thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
