PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stoyak Stoyachnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stoyak Stoyachnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitsuyo Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maeda instigates a clinch.

Maeda tries to throw a body punch but Stoyachnikov avoids it by throwing Maeda back against the cage.
Maeda pushes Stoyachnikov back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Stoyachnikov changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maeda fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Maeda tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Stoyachnikov is able to avoid easily.
Stoyachnikov is looking to counter punch.
Maeda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stoyachnikov's waist but Stoyachnikov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maeda off to one side.
Stoyachnikov tries to clinch but Maeda is having none of it.
Maeda tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Maeda decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Maeda darts in and clinches Stoyachnikov up against the cage.
Maeda drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stoyachnikov pulls his leg out and moves away.

Stoyachnikov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maeda is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Stoyachnikov tightens his grip and picks Maeda up, before dumping him to the ground. Maeda manages to land in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mitsuyo Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maeda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
