Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shon William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zepe Da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shon William!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zepe Da Silva!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Silva feints and as William raises his hands in defense, Da Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
William lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

William seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Da Silva holds on and takes a little breather.
William controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Da Silva has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. William is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Da Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. William manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

William jumps into guard, dragging Da Silva to the mat.
William is looking to stand up but Da Silva isn't so interested in that idea.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as William holds on and takes a little breather.

William wants to stand and escape but Da Silva is having none of it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now William is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Da Silva is looking to escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

William gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Da Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.

William throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
William pulls Da Silva in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
William wants to stand up but Da Silva is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shon William will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from William enables Da Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. William manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Da Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! William looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. William looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from William!

Shon William overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
William takes a little break here. Da Silva wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

You can see the frustration on Da Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, if William is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

William is looking for a kimura but Da Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for William to get the leverage.

William seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Da Silva for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
William prevents Da Silva from standing back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Da Silva closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into William's guard.

William kicks Da Silva off and gets to his feet.

Da Silva shoots in and bounces William off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

William scrambles and gets back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

William feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
William is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Da Silva can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with William in particular looking to stall.
William stops Da Silva from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sloppy strikes from William. Those never looked like landing.
William swats away the attempt to clinch by Da Silva.

Da Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Da Silva lands in his opponent's guard.

Da Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and William dives on top into guard.

William not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
William postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
William slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

William stands up and waves to Da Silva to follow him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

William gets caught napping as Da Silva dives in and scores a takedown. William manages to retain guard.

William pushes Da Silva off and scrambles back to his feet.
William throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shon William is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Da Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in William's guard.

William pushes Da Silva off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
William throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
William will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zepe Da Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shon William is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
