Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royal Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derick Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royal Walsh has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Royal Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derick Bennett!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walsh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bennett to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Bennett gets to his feet - Walsh follows without any prompting.

Bennett fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Walsh sprawls well initially but Bennett persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Walsh makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Bennett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bennett closes the distance and clinches.

Bennett pulls Walsh into guard.
Walsh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Walsh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bennett is trying to keep Walsh in close.
Walsh controls from within his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bennett tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bennett wants to stand and escape but Walsh is having none of it.
Walsh wants to get up but he can't break Bennett's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bennett is controlling Walsh's posture.
Walsh is stalling in the full guard.
Walsh slips nicely into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bennett wants to improve his position but Walsh is controlling well.
Bennett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walsh is working away from the top position though.
Walsh stops Bennett from getting back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Walsh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bennett.
Walsh is looking for a counter combo.
Walsh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bennett gets a clinch.

Bennett jumps guard.
Bennett controls Walsh momentarily but Walsh frees himself.
Walsh engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Walsh really is a fat lump.
Walsh has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Walsh won't allow Bennett to sweep him here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Walsh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walsh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A close round but Derick Bennett will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bennett throws a combination. Walsh tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Bennett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Bennett fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Walsh checks it well.

Bennett has taken the fight to the clinch.

Bennett has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Walsh uses from the top position.
Walsh seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Walsh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bennett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bennett pushes Walsh up against the cage in a clinch.

Walsh is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bennett is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Walsh to the mat. Walsh regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Walsh throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bennett uses it to pass to side control.
Walsh takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Bennett decides to stand back up. Bennett steps back and let's Walsh get back to his feet.

Bennett is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Walsh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bennett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Walsh is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Walsh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bennett defends well.

Bennett got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walsh has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bennett has managed to get both his arms back between Walsh's legs - danger averted.

Walsh has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bennett off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Bennett has taken the fight to the clinch.

Walsh pushes Bennett off looking to stand but Bennett dives back in and keeps control.

Bennett is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Walsh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bennett.

Walsh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bennett defends it easily.

Derick Bennett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Bennett is pushing Walsh up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Bennett escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Walsh stands and steps away. Bennett gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Walsh misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Royal Walsh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Walsh passes into side control, despite Bennett's attempt to control the position.
Bennett is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Walsh has just dragged him back down to the mat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walsh is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Bennett will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Bennett is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Royal Walsh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Derick Bennett is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Walsh lands a decent elbow from side control.

I've got Bennett winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
