PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Juan Santiago Sorias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Harrass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sorias kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Fight - Future World Music . Harrass has chosen Tomorrow as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Juan Santiago Sorias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Harrass!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrass bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Harrass changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Harrass throws a lazy right hand but Sorias sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sorias tries to move into range but Harrass moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Harrass throws a big shot that misses.
Juan Santiago Sorias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sorias tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harrass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sorias lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Sorias misses with an uppercut
and Harrass cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sorias throws a series of strikes that have Harrass backpedaling.
Sorias fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harrass tries to counter with a clinch but Sorias shakes him off and moves away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Harrass has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Harrass lands with a hook. Sorias tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Harrass is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sorias.
Sorias takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Harrass displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sorias throws out the jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harrass is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Sorias has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Sorias!

Harrass has his foot on Sorias's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sorias works his way back into a safe position though.

Phil Harrass comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Harrass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
