Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Micheal Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Jai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Micheal Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Jai!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jai throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jai motions for Thomas to come forward. Jai throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Jai changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thomas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jai controls the position from side control.
Thomas is looking for a sweep.
Jai controlling from side mount.
Thomas is trying to improve his position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas is pushing Jai's head away, looking to escape. Jai manages to hold on to the position though.

You can see the frustration on Thomas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Thomas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jai in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Thomas is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thomas trying to remain calm as Jai controls from the top position.
Thomas gets back to half guard.
Jai controlling the pace.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
It looks like Jai might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jai throws a head kick but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jai manages to circle out of the way.

Jai closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Thomas desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Jai is controlling the pace.
Jai is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thomas throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Thomas wants to get back to full guard.
Thomas moves into full guard.
Jai engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jai is continuing to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jai darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Thomas tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Jai manages to move to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Jai dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Thomas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jai pinned against the cage. Jai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jai throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thomas was covering up waiting for the punch and Jai finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Thomas is wriggling around but Jai manages to pass to half guard.
Jai stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thomas tries to get to full guard but Jai has control of the leg.

Thomas looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jai takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Thomas is trying desperately to improve position.
Thomas is working hard here to advance position.

Thomas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Thomas is desperately trying to improve his position but Jai has a good base and remains in mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jai tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Thomas tries to hold on but Jai postures up.
Jai controlling from the full mount.

Jorge Jai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Thomas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Jai looking to score a takedown here. Thomas is defending well but Jai drives through and ends up in Thomas's guard.
Jai is stalling in the full guard.
Let's hope that Jai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Thomas wants to get back to his feet but Jai is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Thomas can't keep his opponent in guard - Jai advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Thomas wants to improve his position but Jai is controlling well.

Jai is staying tight to Thomas's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Thomas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jai avoids it really well and circles away.
Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Jai lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thomas circles away quickly and effectively.
Thomas seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Jai throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thomas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jai is in Thomas's guard.
Thomas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jai showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Jai.
Thomas striking off his back but it's not causing Jai any problems.
Jai stays in close to Thomas's body and controls the position.
Thomas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jai is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Thomas throws a head kick but Jai moves out of range.
Jai lands with a nice combination. Thomas backs away looking to recover.
Jai lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thomas circles away quickly and effectively.

Jai shoots in and gets a takedown into Thomas's guard.
Thomas wants to stand and escape but Jai is having none of it.
Jai pushing down on Thomas's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jai uses his free foot to push down on Thomas's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Thomas.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorge Jai comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
