Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Stubb!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Askren!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren misses with a straight right.
Stubb misses with a wild combination.
Stubb cracks Askren with a right hand to the side of the head.
Askren swings for the body but Stubb moves out of range.
Stubb with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Stubb fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Askren looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Askren closes the distance and clinches.
Stubb lands a nice uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Stubb creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Askren takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Askren breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Askren throws a good cross that connects.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Askren looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Askren scores with a hook to the body. Stubb takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Askren takes a swing at Stubb's ribcage but misses.
Stubb misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Askren.
Askren punishes Stubb's body with a nice straight punch.
Stubb paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Stubb will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Askren moves away from the strike by Stubb.
Stubb pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Askren drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Stubb defends it well.
Stubb shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Stubb misses with a body shot.
Stubb looks to land a right hand but Askren moved out of range.
Askren moves out of range of the strikes.
Stubb misses with a body shot.
Askren throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've been told by Stubb's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Askren throws a body punch but Stubb moves out of range.

Stubb avoids the body shot from Askren.
Stubb throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alexander Stubb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stubb takes one to the chin there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Askren looks to score with a jab to the body but Stubb is just out of range.
Askren displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stubb throws out the jab.
Askren changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Stubb throws a hook but Askren blocks it.
Askren drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Stubb defends it well.
Stubb catches Askren with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Stubb stuffs the takedown.
Stubb uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Askren.

Askren moves into the clinch.
Askren misses with some punches.
Askren lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Askren has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stubb avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Stubb breaks from the clinch.
Stubb connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Askren tumbling to the canvas! Stubb pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Askren was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alexander Stubb!

In defeat, Jon Askren stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'll be back stronger!'.
