Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Jones!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Persson closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Persson pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Persson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Persson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Persson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jones has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jones!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jimmy Jones just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Persson shoots in.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Jones throws a right and a left that Persson avoids nicely.
Persson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.

Jones stalks Persson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Persson's face. Persson staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Persson Persson has been cut.
Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Persson backs up against the cage.
Oh Persson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Persson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Persson.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Persson.
Persson seems to have got his legs back now.
Jones looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Persson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Persson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Persson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
