PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everette Frye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naharis Lubodov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Naharis Lubodov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Everette Frye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Naharis Lubodov!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lubodov tries a head kick but it misses.
Lubodov misses with a head kick.
Lubodov throws a head kick but Frye moves out of range.
Lubodov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lubodov throws a sloppy head kick and Frye moves out of range easily.

and Frye counters with a shoot takedown. Lubodov fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frye is in close to Lubodov's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lubodov wants to stand up but Frye is controlling him.
Frye connects with a couple of short punches.
Frye cracks Lubodov with a solid left hand.
Lubodov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Frye is controlling him.

Frye stands and steps away. Lubodov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lubodov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Frye.
Lubodov throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Frye.

Lubodov gets caught flat footed, as Frye shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lubodov is looking to stand back up but Frye counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lubodov.

Frye looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Lubodov rushes Frye and presses him up against the cage.
Lubodov tries to circle away but Frye has him pinned against the cage.

Frye is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Lubodov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Frye will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Frye holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lubodov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Frye has him pressed against the cage.

Lubodov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lubodov manages to end up in side control.

Frye bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Frye lands a head kick!
Lubodov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Frye drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lubodov sprawls and moves away.

Frye is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lubodov's half guard.
Lubodov wants to stand back up but Frye manages to pass into side control.

Frye decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Frye connects with a high kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Frye is nestled in close to Lubodov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Frye looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lubodov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Frye seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Frye perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Frye postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lubodov to stand up.
Frye pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Everette Frye dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Lubodov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Frye - the referee stops the clock and Lubodov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Frye. Lubodov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Lubodov throws a right and a left that Frye avoids nicely.
Lubodov throws a head kick but Frye moves out of range.

Lubodov has managed to clinch.

Frye seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Frye's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frye looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

The referee calls for Frye to work.
Lubodov lands an elbow that stopped Frye in his tracks for a moment.

Frye manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Frye is pushing Lubodov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Everette Frye.

Frye stalls.
Frye has Lubodov pressed against the cage, preventing Lubodov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

It looks like Everette Frye has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Frye tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lubodov was well out of range. Poor timing from Frye.

Lubodov tries to kick Frye off in order to stand up. Frye Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Frye works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Frye scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lubodov to see if he's OK.

Frye remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Lubodov is pushing Frye's head away, looking to escape. Frye manages to hold on to the position though.
Lubodov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Frye looks up at the clock and then as Lubodov takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Frye smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee asks Frye politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Frye prefers to stall for the moment though.

Frye stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Frye throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lubodov was covering up waiting for the punch and Frye finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Frye decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lubodov blocks the body kick.
Despite the aggression on Lubodov's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Frye tries a head kick but it misses.

Frye closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lubodov did well to prevent Frye getting side control.
Lubodov tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Frye manages to move to mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frye cracks Lubodov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

And that's the end of the fight!
Everette Frye showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Frye has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
