The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meierotto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gonon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Meierotto is in Gonon's guard.

Meierotto drops back looking for a leg! Gonon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gonon manages to kick Meierotto off! Meierotto jumps back into Gonon's guard.

Meierotto stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Meierotto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gonon to the mat! Gonon manages to get full guard.
Gonon is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Meierotto dives into side control.

Meierotto is trying to get an arm triangle but Gonon is defending well.

Meierotto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Meierotto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Meierotto has hold of Gonon's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gonon tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Meierotto cranks the arm and Gonon screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gonon, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
