The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dela Cruz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stanley to the mat! Stanley manages to get full guard.

Stanley has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dela Cruz off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Stanley has his foot on Dela Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dela Cruz works his way back into a safe position though.

My spies in Hard Knocks Training inform me that Dela Cruz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Dela Cruz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dela Cruz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dela Cruz is looking for a triangle but Stanley pushes his legs off easily.

Dela Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stanley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dela Cruz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stanley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stanley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stanley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dela Cruz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stanley defends it easily.

Stanley stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Dela Cruz has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Stanley manages to get his head free but now Dela Cruz has transitioned to an armbar! Stanley grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Dela Cruz! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
