And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Newman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Arvanitidis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Newman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Arvanitidis's knee momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

As Arvanitidis backs off Newman throws a huge counter combo but Arvanitidis manages to avoid it all.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Newman is looking for a kimura but Arvanitidis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Newman to get the leverage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Newman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Arvanitidis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Newman has managed to get both his arms back between Arvanitidis's legs - danger averted.

Arvanitidis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Newman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Newman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's time! Arvanitidis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Arvanitidis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Newman lets loose with a powerful body kick. Arvanitidis will feel that in the morning.
Oh Arvanitidis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Arvanitidis tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Arvanitidis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Newman as he avoids it easily.

Newman has Arvanitidis up against the cage in a clinch.
Newman unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Arvanitidis! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Newman is unloading with more strikes now! Arvanitidis drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

An out of breath Paul Newman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
