The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalenko throws a head kick that misses.
Kovalenko turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kovalenko misses with a wild combination.
Kovalenko connects with a body shot that sends Proctor's belly button to the back.
Proctor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Proctor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kovalenko throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Nikolai Kovalenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kovalenko misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Proctor.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Proctor creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Proctor keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kovalenko's efforts to push away.

and Kovalenko counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Proctor thinking.
Kovalenko lands a head kick. Proctor smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A little jabbing left from Proctor on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Proctor avoids the head kick by Kovalenko.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kovalenko. Proctor does a little dance to reset his feet.

Proctor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Proctor counters with a leg kick.
Kovalenko definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Kovalenko lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kovalenko cracks Proctor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kovalenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kovalenko switches off momentarily and Proctor cracks him with a monster right hand! Kovalenko topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Proctor dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Proctor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Proctor!
