Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lu Wai Ping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyman Kissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wai Ping comes to the cage accompanied by Once upon a time in China. Lu Wai Ping has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lu Wai Ping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyman Kissell!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kissell motions for Wai Ping to come forward. Kissell throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Wai Ping tries to clinch up but Kissell circles away and keeps his distance.
Wai Ping tries to clinch but Kissell moves out of range.
Kissell with the counter takedown but Wai Ping avoids it easily.

Kissell tries to keep at a distance but Wai Ping has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wai Ping pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wai Ping tries to clinch but Kissell moves away
and Kissell makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kissell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wai Ping was well out of range. Poor timing from Kissell.
We've been hearing reports that Wai Ping has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Wai Ping tries to clinch up.
Kissell takes one to the side of the head.
Kissell has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wai Ping moves in looking to clinch but Kissell pushes him off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wai Ping fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kissell, pushing him back against the cage.
Wai Ping has Kissell pressed against the cage, preventing Kissell from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wai Ping scores with a shot to the side of Kissell's head.
Wai Ping landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Kissell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kissell drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wai Ping defends it well.

Wai Ping darts in trying to clinch
and Kissell counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Wai Ping fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kissell shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wai Ping is trying to defend but Kissell finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kissell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wai Ping is wriggling around but Kissell manages to pass to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kissell throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Wai Ping gets caught flat footed, as Kissell shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Wai Ping wants to stand up but Kissell is controlling him.
Kissell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kissell connects with a couple of short punches.
Kissell won't allow Wai Ping to get back to his feet.
Kissell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kissell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kissell gets a takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lyman Kissell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Wai Ping looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lu Wai Ping seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wai Ping's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kissell throws a body shot but no joy.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Wai Ping checks a leg kick.

Kissell appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Lu Wai Ping is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kissell swats away the attempt to clinch by Wai Ping.
Kissell keeps the fight on the outside.
Kissell tries to bum rush Wai Ping with a series of wild strikes but Wai Ping uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wai Ping moves in looking to clinch but Kissell pushes him off.
Wai Ping wants to clinch up but Kissell keeps it at a distance.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wai Ping, right into the meat.
Wai Ping doesn't manage to clinch there - Kissell circles away.
And Kissell tries to counter it with a takedown but Wai Ping pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Wai Ping moves in looking to clinch but Kissell pushes him off.
Kissell feints the counter takedown.

Kissell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wai Ping to the mat! Wai Ping manages to get full guard.
Wai Ping wants to stand up but Kissell is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kissell looking to improve position, pressing down on Wai Ping's thigh with his hand. Wai Ping seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Kissell paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Kissell's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Wai Ping picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Lu Wai Ping!
A relieved looking Lu Wai Ping thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
