PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Riddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Foggy Dew kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Edmund Riddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Riddle eats them both and turns towards McGregor to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McGregor lands a slapping body shot.
McGregor connects with the punch.

Riddle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Riddle lands in his opponent's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGregor is on top in guard.

McGregor wants to control from the top but Riddle keeps moving.
Riddle wants to stand and escape but McGregor is having none of it.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McGregor bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Riddle's head.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The referee is keeping an eye on McGregor - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Riddle pulls guard effortlessly.
McGregor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Riddle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGregor on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Riddle is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Riddle has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McGregor uses from the top position.

McGregor postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Riddle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McGregor, into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
