Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andreas Jonsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonsson's entrance music is Lover's Concerto by Kelly Chen. A fine choice. McCarthy has chosen The Slam as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy shoots in looking for a takedown. Jonsson tries to sprawl out of it but McCarthy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jonsson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jonsson is looking to clinch but McCarthy is avoiding it.

Jonsson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jonsson uses his free foot to push down on McCarthy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McCarthy.

McCarthy closes the distance looking to clinch

and Jonsson counters by moving into the clinch.
Jonsson tries to land a knee to the head but McCarthy blocks with his arms.

Jonsson has McCarthy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McCarthy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

McCarthy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

McCarthy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Jonsson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McCarthy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jonsson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McCarthy's back instead.
Jonsson has the hooks in. McCarthy is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Jonsson is not going to allow McCarthy to sit and survive in this position.

Jonsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCarthy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McCarthy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCarthy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

McCarthy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jonsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McCarthy's guard.
Jonsson is pushing down on McCarthy's leg trying to pass to half guard. McCarthy is fighting to maintain full guard but Jonsson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jonsson cracks McCarthy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
