Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Take A Ride On My Bologna Pony! ! !. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Green!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Simmons!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons with a jab.


It looks like Chris Green has been cut.

Simmons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simmons accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Simmons throwing strikes from guard but Green blocks nicely.

Green looking for a guillotine here but Simmons defends easily.
Simmons lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Green is working an open guard so Simmons takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Simmons is trying to trip Green. He has hold of a leg but Green is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Simmons persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Green bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simmons's guard.

Simmons tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Simmons throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Green keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Simmons.

Green drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Simmons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Green. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Simmons wants to improve his position but Green is controlling well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simmons can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Green in particular looking to stall.
Simmons on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Green wants to work for an arm triangle but Simmons is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Simmons wants to get back to full guard.

Green seems to be working for a kimura but Simmons defends the submission attempt.
Simmons is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Green trying to control the action but Simmons is working from the bottom.
Simmons tries to roll over but Green keeps him under control.

Green is looking for a kimura but Simmons is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Green to get the leverage.

Green is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Simmons is looking for a sweep. Green is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Richard Simmons will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Simmons closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Simmons slips a nice elbow through Green's hands, connecting with Green's forehead.

Green is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Simmons pulls his head out easily.
Simmons wants to free his trapped foot but Green is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Green manages to get to full guard.
Green looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simmons is one step ahead there.
Green avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Green bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simmons's guard.
Simmons wants to sweep but no luck.
Simmons can't keep his opponent in guard - Green advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Green takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Green is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Simmons tries to roll over but Green keeps him under control.
Green passes the guard and advances to mount!
Green is landing with some decent strikes but Simmons is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Simmons swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Simmons is working to get back to half guard.
Green lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Simmons hang on?
Simmons can't escape the position.

Simmons is desperately trying to improve his position but Green has a good base and remains in mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Simmons is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.

Green has hold of Simmons's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Simmons manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Simmons can't escape the position.
Chris Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Simmons is looking to improve his position but Green isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Green postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Simmons looks a forlorn figure.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Green shoots in looking for a takedown. Simmons tries to sprawl out of it but Green keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Simmons manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Simmons dips to his left and cracks Green with an uppercut!

Green is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Simmons is trying to escape and Green transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Simmons is forced to tap! Nice work there by Green! Very nice indeed!
