Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Woodrow Joyner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Gunz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Woodrow Joyner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Gunz!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Woodrow Joyner has been cut.

Gunz has Joyner up against the cage in a clinch.
Joyner is working for takedown but Gunz is calmly controlling the position for now.
A bit of stalling here from Gunz.

Gunz has picked Joyner up - he's going for a ride! Gunz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Joyner tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Gunz blocks the strikes from Joyner.
Gunz wants to control but Joyner is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Joyner pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gunz is defended easily by Joyner.
Joyner wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Gunz shoots in and gets a takedown into Joyner's guard.

Gunz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Joyner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gunz wants to work for an arm triangle but Joyner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gunz is trying to control. Joyner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gunz connects with a nice short shot to Joyner's temple.

Gunz is looking to take a break and control but Joyner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gunz.

Gunz has Joyner up against the cage in a clinch.

Gunz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gunz moves into the clinch.
Gunz prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gunz stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Joyner tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gunz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Joyner is trying to defend but Gunz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gunz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Joyner to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gunz uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Gunz lands a nice looking body kick.

Gunz moves into the clinch.
Joyner slows down the pace here.

Gunz pulls guard successfully.

Joyner wants to control from the top but Gunz keeps moving.

Gunz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Joyner is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gunz is looking to improve his position.
Gunz is looking to control Joyner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gunz avoid being mounted?
Gunz is looking for a sweep. Joyner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Joyner wants to work for an arm triangle but Gunz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Well, if Joyner is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Gunz throws a head kick but Joyner moves out of range.
As Gunz tries to get set, Joyner tries to push him back and clinch up but Gunz manages to avoid the attempt.
Joyner throws the kick towards the body but Gunz avoids it.
Joyner takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gunz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Joyner takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gunz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Joyner sprawls well. Joyner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunz gets slowly back to his feet.

and Joyner counters by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joyner tries to score a body lock takedown but Gunz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Joyner tightens his grip and picks Gunz up, before dumping him to the ground. Gunz manages to land in guard.
Joyner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gunz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Joyner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Gunz manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Gunz wants to control from the top but Joyner keeps moving.
Joyner can't keep his opponent in guard - Gunz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gunz landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Joyner is trying to maintain the position but Gunz is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Joey Gunz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Joyner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gunz pinned against the cage. Gunz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gunz tries to counter with a clinch but Joyner shakes him off and moves away.

Joyner has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Gunz.

Well Gunz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
