Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Polly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivan Hendrix has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Polly throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hendrix was covering up waiting for the punch and Polly finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hendrix wants to stand but Polly is controlling the position.

Polly drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hendrix looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hendrix looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hendrix!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Polly is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendrix creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hendrix controlling the position from side mount.
Polly gets back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Polly displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hendrix throws out the jab.

Hendrix pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Polly pushes Hendrix off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Polly is wriggling around but Hendrix manages to pass to half guard.

Hendrix seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hendrix looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Polly with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Polly does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Hendrix counters with a stiff right hand.
Polly takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hendrix misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Polly.
Polly tries to counter by closing the distance.

and Hendrix counters with a head kick. That will keep Polly thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Polly sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hendrix connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Polly's hands.
