The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Fertus counters with a straight right hand.
Goodman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Goodman throws a sloppy head kick and Fertus moves out of range easily.

and Goodman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Goodman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fertus as he jumps to the side.

Fertus has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Goodman is on him like a limpet, forcing Fertus back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goodman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Goodman has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Fertus works to full guard.
Goodman wants to get up but he can't break Fertus's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Goodman connects with a nice short shot to Fertus's temple.

Goodman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fertus, pushing him back against the cage.

Goodman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Goodman moves in looking to clinch but Fertus pushes him off.
Fertus closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Goodman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Goodman shoots in for a takedown but Fertus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Goodman has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Fertus regains guard immediately.

Goodman decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fertus, up you get!
