PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Klay Montez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ole Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Svensson has chosen Fever Ray -If I had a heart as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Klay Montez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Klay Montez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klay Montez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ole Svensson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Montez dives in and scores a takedown into Svensson's guard.
Montez stays in close to Svensson's body and controls the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Montez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Montez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Montez wants to control from the top but Svensson keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Svensson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Montez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Svensson avoids it really well and circles away.

Svensson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Montez's half guard.

Montez is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Svensson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Svensson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Svensson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Svensson showed some decent athleticism there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Svensson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Montez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Svensson.

Svensson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Montez is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Montez wants to slow Svensson down by chopping away at his legs.
Svensson swings for the body but Montez moves out of range.
Svensson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Montez eats them both and turns towards Svensson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Klay Montez has been cut.
Svensson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Montez circles away quickly and effectively.
Montez tries for a takedown but Svensson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Svensson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Montez fails to land the takedown.
Svensson throws a counter combo.
Montez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klay Montez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A decent looking cross lands there for Svensson.
Svensson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Svensson tries to bum rush Montez with a series of wild strikes but Montez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Svensson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Montez wants to control but Svensson is keeping busy.

Svensson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Montez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Svensson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Svensson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Svensson blocks the strikes from Montez.

Montez kicks off Svensson and gets to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Montez enables Svensson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Montez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Montez pushes Svensson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Montez has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Svensson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Montez dives in and grabs Svensson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Svensson pushes down on Montez's head and hops out.

Montez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

and Svensson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Montez won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Svensson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Montez down.
Svensson is looking to take a break and control but Montez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well Svensson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
