Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think John might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Peace Minus One by Rorschach Test . Lynch has chosen Wild Thing as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tommy John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lynch scores with a takedown into John's guard.

Lynch is fighting to break John's control of his arms but John is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lynch is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! John is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! John has escaped and now he's on top!

John wanted to stand there but Lynch had control of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
John controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
John wants to stand but Lynch has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lynch lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for John!
John is squirming around, avoiding Lynch's attempts to control the action.
Lynch looking to control and managing it successfully.

Lynch trying to control but John is having none of it.
John is trying desperately to improve position.

Lynch goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now John is on top in guard.
John tries to stand but Lynch is controlling from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lynch feints and as John raises his hands in defense, Lynch changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

John has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lynch is proving hard to escape from.

John stands up and waves to Lynch to follow him.

Lynch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lynch passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for John!

John looks to land a combination but Lynch avoids it well.

John throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lynch tries to clinch there but John circles away.

Lynch closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
John misses with a hook to the ribs.
John throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lynch blocks it with crossed arms.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
John pushes off an fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Lynch blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Lynch pulls guard successfully.

Lynch throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! John escapes and throws Lynch's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Lynch sneaks back into half guard.
Lynch moves into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lynch looking for a guillotine here but John defends easily.

Lynch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. John gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lynch is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lynch is taking a breather. John says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lynch wants to free his trapped foot but John is holding on for dear life with his legs.

John wants to control but Lynch is keeping busy.
Lynch wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lynch bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lynch had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. John is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lynch Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take John's back instead.
Lynch is looking to control John but John is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lynch might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control John kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Eric Lynch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lynch sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed John's guard.

John is not content to let Lynch control the position.

Lynch has hold of John's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! John tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lynch cranks the arm and John screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from John, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
