Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yuki Takano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lopez has chosen Hurriganes - Get On as his entrance music. Yuki Takano is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Lopez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takano throws a jab when Lopez was well out of range.

Lopez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lopez lands in his opponent's guard.
Takano keeping full guard, as Lopez tries to pass.
Takano wants to stand up but Lopez is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lopez wants to pass the guard but Takano is keeping the position.
Takano is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lopez wants to control from the top but Takano keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lopez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takano was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Lopez swings for the body but Takano moves out of range.
Takano thuds his right hand into Lopez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Lopez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takano circles away quickly and effectively.
Takano feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lopez's calf.
Takano throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lopez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Takano defends well and Lopez ends up having to push Takano into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lopez fails with a takedown attempt.
Lopez darts in looking for a takedown but Takano gets double underhooks and turns Lopez into the cage.
Yuki Takano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Lopez.
A slapping body kick lands there for Takano.
Lopez looks winded!
Takano lands with a nice body kick.
Pedro Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takano lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Takano connects with a leg kick. Lopez looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Takano throws a wild body kick that Lopez sees coming a mile off.
Takano throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lopez on the side of the head.
Lopez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Takano tries to avoid it but Lopez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Takano to the ground. Takano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Takano lands a jab to the head.


It looks like Pedro Lopez has been cut.

Takano connects with a solid leg kick.

Lopez scores with a takedown into Takano's guard.
Lopez stops Takano from standing up.
Lopez tries to free his leg and advance position but Takano is retaining full guard.
Lopez wants to control from the top but Takano keeps moving.
Lopez prevents Takano from getting back to his feet.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lopez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Takano displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lopez.
Takano lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Lopez tries a head kick but it misses.
Lopez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takano pinned against the cage. Takano gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lopez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takano sprawls well initially but Lopez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lopez stops Takano from getting back to his feet.
Lopez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lopez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Takano knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Takano is trying to stand up here but Lopez is controlling him well.
Takano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lopez on the ground.

Lopez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lopez trying to mount his opponent but Takano defends it.
Takano wants to get back to his feet.
Lopez passes the guard and advances to mount!
Lopez tries to control but Takano wriggling away.
Takano's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Lopez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Takano is looking to escape.
Takano is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Horrible takedown attempt by Lopez or perhaps it was just good defense by Takano, which made it look bad.
Takano tries to bum rush Lopez with a series of wild strikes but Lopez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Takano jabs Lopez to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Takano throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lopez on the side of the head.
Takano lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Takano checks the leg kick nicely there.
A decent looking cross lands there for Takano.
A jab from Takano misses.
Takano lands a leg kick that knocks Lopez off balance momentarily.
Lopez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Takano appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Nice sprawl there from Takano as Lopez shoots in.
Yuki Takano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Lopez.

Lopez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lopez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lopez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lopez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Takano is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lopez asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Takano is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Lopez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Takano can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lopez is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Lopez extends the arm and Takano is forced to tap!
