Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mehmet Sirovica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sirovica kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is last mohacian. Mehmet Sirovica has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Sirovica gets a takedown into half guard.
Jones tries to kick Sirovica off but Sirovica keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Sirovica is working for a submission of some sort.

Sirovica is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sirovica to get the leverage.

Sirovica is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sirovica.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sirovica is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Sirovica eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sirovica.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jones connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

It looks like Mehmet Sirovica has been cut.
Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jones lands with a hook. Sirovica tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mehmet Sirovica's cut is getting worse.

Sirovica had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jones is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sirovica Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jones's back instead.

Sirovica is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jones defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Sirovica has the hooks in. Jones is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sirovica thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sirovica is controlling him.

Jones throws a hook to the side of Sirovica's head but Sirovica sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sirovica manages to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones cracks a nice hook into Sirovica's ribs.
Nice combo by Jones! Oh, that's hurt him - Sirovica falls to the canvas and Jones follows him into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sirovica. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sirovica has hold of Jones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
