Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scot Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Gannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregg Gannon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scot Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregg Gannon!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gannon pushes Santana up against the cage in a clinch.
Gannon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Santana.
Gannon can't get the takedown.
Santana wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gannon has him pressed against the cage.
Santana goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gannon prevents it.

Gannon pulls guard successfully.
Gannon trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Gannon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Santana landing with the ground and pound.
Gannon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gannon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Gannon has his foot on Santana's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Santana works his way back into a safe position though.

Gannon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gannon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Santana's guard.

Gannon's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Santana is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It looks like Scot Santana has been cut.

Gregg Gannon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Santana wants to clinch.
Gannon was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Gannon dives in and grabs Santana's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santana pushes down on Gannon's head and hops out.
Scot Santana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregg Gannon.
Santana throws a push kick but Gannon slaps the foot to one side.

Santana throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Gannon tries to pull guard but Santana won't allow it.

Nice sprawl there from Santana as Gannon shoots in.
Santana misses with a head kick.
Santana tries to land a front kick but Gannon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Santana is looking to land body kicks.

Gannon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santana, pushing him back against the cage.

Gannon manages to break the clinch.
Santana tries a head kick but it misses.
Santana shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gannon eats them both and turns towards Santana to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Gannon rushes Santana and presses him up against the cage.

Santana gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Gannon has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Santana has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Santana has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gannon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Scot Santana is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Santana gets tackled into the cage by Gannon. Gannon maintains the clinch.
Santana has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Gannon manages to break the clinch.

Gannon is trying to drag Santana to the mat but Santana just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santana has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gannon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Santana gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Gannon pushes Santana off and gets back to his feet.

Santana throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Gannon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Gannon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Santana is trying to defend but Gannon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gregg Gannon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Santana throws a sloppy head kick and Gannon moves out of range easily.

Gannon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gannon connects with a high kick.
Gannon tries a head kick but it misses.
Gannon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Gannon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gannon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gannon shoots in looking for a takedown. Santana tries to sprawl out of it but Gannon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santana manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santana dodges the punch combination from Gannon.
Santana will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gannon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gannon.
Santana lands an overhand right.
A head kick misses from Santana.
Santana shoots for a double leg takedown but Gannon sprawls well. He's pushed Santana's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Santana could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gannon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Santana's guard.

Santana makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gannon is on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gannon stays in close to Santana's body and controls the position.
Gannon tries to free his leg and advance position but Santana is retaining full guard.
Gannon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Santana works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gannon works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gannon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Gregg Gannon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gannon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
