The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernedez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rodriquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rodriquez wants to stand back up but Fernedez manages to pass into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernedez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rodriquez, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rodriquez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Fernedez has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Rodriquez is pushing Fernedez's head away, looking to escape. Fernedez manages to hold on to the position though.
Rodriquez tries to improve position but can't.
Fernedez takes a little break here. Rodriquez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

It looks like Fernedez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
