PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Derks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derks is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Reckless And The Brave. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wayne misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Derks drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wayne defends it well.
Wayne swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wayne throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Wayne thuds a left hand into Derks's body.
Derks closes the distance and clinches up with Wayne, looking for a takedown. Derks pushes Wayne against the cage but Wayne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've been informed that Derks has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Wayne displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Derks throws out the jab.

Derks gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Wayne lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wayne throws a right and a left that Derks avoids nicely.
Wayne takes a swing at Derks's ribcage but misses.
And Derks tries to counter it with a takedown but Wayne pushes his down on his head and steps out.

No joy there for Wayne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Derks takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wayne throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Derks.
Derks drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wayne defends it well.

Nate Derks is the new featherweight champion!
Nate Derks decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
