The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain misses with a kick to the body.

Hammer clinches.

Hammer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pain uses from the top position.
Pain looking to pass the guard.
Hammer is looking to stand up but Pain isn't so interested in that idea.
Hammer pulls Pain in close to his closed guard and prevents Pain from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hammer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pain is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pain wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hammer throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Hammer clinches.
Hammer throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Pain tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Hammer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pain can't fight it off and eventually Hammer manages to take the fight to the floor. Pain looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pain is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hammer is aware though and is defending well.
Hammer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hammer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hammer content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Pain has locked up a guillotine! Pain's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hammer is holding on here and Pain must be using up a lot of energy. Hammer has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Pain gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
