Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Thomas is trying to defend but Williams finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Williams is taking a breather. Thomas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Thomas wants to control but Williams is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thomas is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Thomas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Thomas tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.
Thomas is looking to control Williams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thomas avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Williams has Thomas up against the cage in a clinch.
Thomas trying to stall but Williams improves his position.

Thomas seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Williams is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Thomas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Williams is keeping busy.

Williams gets control of Thomas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Williams will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Williams pulls Thomas in close to his closed guard and prevents Thomas from doing any damage or advancing position.

Williams looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Thomas has picked Williams up and slammed him! Williams can't keep hold of the triangle and Thomas manages to pass to side control!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Thomas landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Thomas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.
Thomas tries to stand but can't do so whilst Williams controls his leg.

Williams is refusing to be controlled, as Thomas sits in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Williams looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Thomas!
Thomas is looking to regain half guard here but Williams keeps moving and retains side control.
Thomas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Williams is controlling him well.
Mike Williams has got the better of the ground game so far.

Williams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Thomas can't do much from the bottom here.

Williams jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Thomas is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Thomas and Williams has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Thomas looks to move to half guard but instead Williams has passed into mount! Damn!
Williams lands a big shot there that rocks Thomas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Thomas is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.
Williams prevents Thomas from getting the reversal.
Williams fails to advance to Thomas's back.
Williams wants to control the pace but Thomas is squirming around nicely.

Thomas wants to control but Williams passes into side.
You can see the frustration on Thomas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thomas keeps working.
Thomas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Williams has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Williams feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Thomas wants to get back to his feet but Williams passes into half guard.

Thomas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Williams controls the pace.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Williams wants to stand but Thomas is controlling his arm.

Williams is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thomas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Thomas wants to control but Williams postures up.

Margarito Thomas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Williams is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Thomas is trying to escape the position but Williams is controlling the position.

Mike Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
