PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davis Bushby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bushby is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by DMX - Bad Boy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mr Ward!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davis Bushby!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bushby closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ward drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bushby pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ward changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bushby tries to avoid it but Ward manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bushby to the ground. Bushby escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ward bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bushby wants to get back to his feet but Ward drags him back down.
Ward working the ground and pound but Bushby is defending the strikes.

Ward swings around for an armbar but Bushby sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ward's guard.
Ward tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bushby stands and steps away. Ward gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ward takes a swing at Bushby's ribcage but misses.

Bushby rushes Ward and presses him up against the cage.

Bushby breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ward fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Bushby jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Bushby moves into the clinch successfully.
Ward is trying to drag Bushby to the mat but Bushby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bushby's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ward closes the distance looking to clinch
and Bushby counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bushby lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bushby.
Ward is breathing heavily.
Bushby misses with an attempted mid kick.
Bushby moves out of range of the strikes.
Bushby throws a series of punches but Ward avoids them all with ease.
Ward wants to clinch but Bushby slips to the side

and Bushby counters by clinching up.

Bushby's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bushby lands a two punch combo.
Ward misses with a takedown
and Bushby counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Ward is rocked!
Whack! Bushby lands a heavy head kick that drops Ward. The ref tackles Bushby to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Ward was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Davis Bushby!
Davis Bushby is the new bantamweight champion!
