Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cortez has chosen Brazilian Fight Song by Stephane Attias as his entrance music. Benny Cortez struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Silva connects with a couple of short punches.
Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cortez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cortez wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.
Silva forces his way into half guard.
Cortez looks winded!
Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Silva content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cortez is trying to get back to full guard.
Cortez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva trying to mount his opponent but Cortez defends it.
Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cortez is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
Silva wants to pass to mount but Cortez is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cortez's head.
Silva is pressing down on Cortez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cortez is holding on for now.
Silva seems to be looking for submissions.
Silva is keen to just control but Cortez is a slippery customer.
Cortez is trying to control but can't.
Cortez is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Silva has latched onto it... Big trouble! Silva pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Cortez is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Silva!
