The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccaughan misses with a looping left.
Mccaughan misses with a hook. Blastoma ducked under it nicely.

It looks like Retino Blastoma has been cut.
Blastoma takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Blastoma drops back looking for a leg! Mccaughan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mccaughan manages to kick Blastoma off! Blastoma jumps back into Mccaughan's guard.

Mccaughan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blastoma can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mccaughan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mccaughan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blastoma defends it well.
Blastoma has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mccaughan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mccaughan connects with a nice short shot to Blastoma's temple.
Blastoma lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mccaughan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Blastoma looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mccaughan throws a hook to the side of Blastoma's head but Blastoma sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Mccaughan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blastoma looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mccaughan has control of Blastoma's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Blastoma regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Mccaughan has hold of Blastoma's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Blastoma manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Blastoma had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mccaughan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Blastoma Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mccaughan's back instead.

Mccaughan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Blastoma's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Blastoma closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mccaughan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Mccaughan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blastoma gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Blastoma stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mccaughan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Blastoma has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Blastoma and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eric Mccaughan.
