Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vaughn Noel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Gannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregg Gannon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vaughn Noel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregg Gannon!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gannon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Noel's guard.

Noel has his feet on Gannon's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Nice takedown defense from Gannon. No joy for Noel on that attempt.
Noel really is a fat lump.

Noel closes the distance and clinches.
Gannon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Gannon turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Noel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gannon on the ground.

Noel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gannon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Noel wants to sweep here but Gannon controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Noel is looking for a kimura but Gannon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Noel to get the leverage.
Gannon wants to improve his position but Noel is controlling well.
Gannon regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Noel.
Noel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gannon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Vaughn Noel will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Noel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Vaughn Noel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gannon is trying to hold Noel in close to prevent damage but Noel has managed to pass into half guard.

Gannon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Noel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Noel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Gannon has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Noel has passed into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gannon wants to control but Noel postures up.

Noel looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Gannon managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Noel.
Gannon tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Gannon is trying to escape the mount.
Noel has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gannon's face.

Noel lands with a hammerfist to the side of Gannon's head.

Noel looking to break Gannon's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Gannon remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Noel will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I really don't envy Gannon right now.

Noel is persistently looking for the submission but Gannon is defending it well.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Noel misses with a takedown attempt - Gannon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Gannon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gannon lands in his opponent's guard.

Noel wriggles free and stands up.

Gannon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Noel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gannon swivels and escapes.
Gannon changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Noel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Noel showed some decent athleticism there.
Gannon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Noel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gannon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Noel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Noel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Vaughn Noel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gannon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Noel scores with a couple of nice shots.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Noel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
