Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pomper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harold Nicolas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pomper comes to the cage accompanied by Cotten eye joe. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicolas misses with a hook

Pomper is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Pomper is pushing down on Nicolas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nicolas is fighting to maintain full guard but Pomper has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nicolas is still in real trouble! Can Pomper finish him?

Pomper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pomper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pomper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nicolas can do to turn this around?

Pomper has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It seemed like Nicolas was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Nicolas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pomper.

Nicolas looks to land a left hand but Pomper moved out of range nicely.
Nicolas might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Pomper connects with a combination that backs up Nicolas into the cage. Pomper lands a flurry of punches that gets past Nicolas's guard. Nicolas is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Pomper bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
