Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sol Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calixte Kongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calixte Kongo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sol Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Calixte Kongo!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duffy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kongo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Duffy is working Kongo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Duffy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Duffy's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duffy preventing the sweep.
Duffy wants to get up but he can't break Kongo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kongo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Duffy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kongo takes the fight into the clinch.

Kongo gets control of Duffy's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kongo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Duffy stands up over Kongo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kongo holds on and takes a little breather.
Duffy is looking to stand up but Kongo won't let him.
Kongo wants to stand and escape but Duffy is having none of it.
Duffy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kongo trying to keep a closed guard but Duffy is proving a slippery customer.
Duffy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Duffy blocks a head kick by Kongo.
Duffy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Kongo dives in and scores a takedown into Duffy's guard.
Kongo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Duffy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kongo is one step ahead there.
Duffy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Duffy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kongo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Duffy napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Duffy can't do much from the bottom here.
Duffy manages to get back to half guard.
Duffy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kongo throws a strike but Duffy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Duffy won't allow Kongo to get back to his feet.
Kongo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duffy is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sol Duffy will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Duffy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kongo's half guard.

Kongo is looking to stand up but Duffy isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kongo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kongo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kongo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duffy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kongo is looking to stand back up but Duffy counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kongo.

Kongo is defending against the submission attempts here by Duffy.
Sol Duffy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kongo pushes Duffy off looking to stand but Duffy dives back in and keeps control.
Duffy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Duffy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Duffy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kongo wants to get back to full guard but Duffy has passed into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Duffy seems to be working for a kimura but Kongo defends the submission attempt.

Kongo tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Duffy manages to move to mount!
Kongo is desperately trying to improve his position but Duffy has a good base and remains in mount.

Duffy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Duffy is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Kongo is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Kongo flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Duffy anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Kongo and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Duffy slips an arm under Kongo chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Duffy has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Duffy is squeezing on Kongo like an anaconda would it's prey. Kongo fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sol Duffy!
