Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Schmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hackett comes into the arena with Genesis - Firth of Fith blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmo misses with a looping left.
A counter left hand to the body from Hackett misses its target.
Nice straight punches there by Schmo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Schmo.
Schmo throws a right hand that misses
and Hackett counters with a nice kick to the body.
Hackett lands a nice hook to Schmo's body. Schmo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hackett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Schmo.
Hackett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Schmo tries to free his leg and advance position but Hackett is retaining full guard.
Schmo throws an elbow that misses. Hackett uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schmo's guard. Nice move by Hackett!

Schmo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hackett gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hackett throws a body punch but Schmo moves out of range.
Hackett scores with a hook to the body. Schmo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Schmo takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Schmo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hackett.

Schmo is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

and Hackett counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hackett comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Schmo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Joe Schmo has been cut.
Hackett is looking to wear down Schmo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Schmo feints and as Hackett raises his hands in defense, Schmo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hackett is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Schmo is struggling to control the position.
Schmo tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hackett's elbow.
Schmo tries to throw a body punch but Hackett avoids it by throwing Schmo back against the cage.

A punch lands to the side of Hackett 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Schmo has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hackett.
Hackett fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schmo manages to avoid it.

Hackett defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schmo.

Schmo tries for a takedown but Hackett sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Steve Hackett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Schmo.
Hackett swings for the body but Schmo moves out of range.
Hackett is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hackett takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Schmo on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Schmo takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
That kick from Hackett tenderised Schmo's leg. Schmo is trying to keep his angry face on.
Schmo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schmo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

and Schmo counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Schmo is trying to ground and pound but Hackett uses the momentary lack of control by Schmo to regain half guard.

Hackett gets full guard.
Schmo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hackett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Schmo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Schmo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Schmo throws an elbow that misses. Hackett uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schmo's guard. Nice move by Hackett!
Schmo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hackett manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Hackett manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hackett keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Schmo's efforts to push away.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hackett here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Schmo tries to work over Hackett's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Schmo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Schmo avoids the body shot from Hackett.
Hackett moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Hackett throws a sloppy head kick and Schmo moves out of range easily.
And Schmo tries to counter it with a takedown but Hackett pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hackett thows a body kick. Schmo tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Schmo is breathing heavily.

Hackett comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Schmo might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Schmo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hackett.
Hackett lands a nice looking body kick.
Schmo sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Hackett smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

and Hackett counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Schmo thinking.
Hackett lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hackett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schmo can do to turn this around?

Hackett connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Schmo momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schmo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A quick step to the side and Hackett tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hackett uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schmo.

Schmo has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hackett.
Hackett lands a brutal head kick. Schmo looks out on his feet and Hackett throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
