Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duane Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Smith has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Duane Morris's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Duane Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Smith!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Chris Dean and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Morris wants the takedown. Smith is fighting it off but Morris persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smith's guard against the cage.

Smith is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Morris presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Morris won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris prevents Smith from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith controls Morris momentarily but Morris frees himself.
Morris tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Morris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Aaron Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith tries to land a front kick but Morris steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Morris gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
Morris is looking to take this one to the mat.
Morris tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.
Smith tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Morris's elbow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Morris is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Morris is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Smith has an active guard here but Morris has managed to pass into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Duane Morris will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith gets control of Morris's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Morris has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Duane Morris dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Morris lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Smith backs up against the cage.

Morris has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Morris is trying to push Smith away but Smith has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Smith unloads a knee to the mid-section. Morris lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Morris has Smith pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Morris pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Smith tumbling to the mat - Morris dives into Smith's guard.

Smith pushes Morris off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Smith wants the takedown. Morris is fighting it off but Smith persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Morris's guard against the cage.

Morris has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Smith off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
This has been an exciting period of action!
