Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Stobbart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slugger Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Stobbart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Slugger Joe!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stobbart shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stobbart is nestled in close to Joe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stobbart wants to free his trapped foot but Joe is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Stobbart looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Stobbart controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stobbart not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stobbart is working away from the top position though.
Stobbart sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Joe defending well though.

Stobbart is looking for a kimura but Joe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stobbart to get the leverage.
Stobbart throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Stobbart is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Joe sees it coming and defends easily.

Well, if Stobbart is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe trying to control but Stobbart postures up.
Joe has hold of Stobbart's hands but Stobbart slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Stobbart thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Joe makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Joe.

Stobbart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Joe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stobbart controls Joe momentarily but Joe frees himself.
Joe pushing down on Stobbart's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Stobbart trying to hold on to Joe's head to control him but Joe postures up.

Joe is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stobbart misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Joe is trying to work for a kimura but Stobbart is defending well.

Stobbart scores with a few weak punches.

Stobbart makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stobbart.
Stobbart trying to control the position.
Stobbart wants to sweep here but Joe controlling him for the moment.
Joe trying to control but Stobbart is working from the bottom.
Stobbart tries to strike from the bottom.
Joe forces his way into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stobbart is looking for a sweep. Joe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Joe is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stobbart!

Joe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Stobbart can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Stobbart is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Stobbart dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stobbart fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Joe fails with the takedown.

Stobbart looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
George Stobbart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stobbart is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Joe defends it well.
Stobbart throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stobbart not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Joe avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stobbart.
Stobbart is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Joe is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stobbart is aware though and is defending well.
Stobbart pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Joe is keeping the position for now.

Joe is looking to cinch up a triangle. Stobbart throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Joe's body to avoid the submission. Joe has instead reached around Stobbart's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Joe arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Slugger Joe!
