Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Rewell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander Rewell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Rewell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 23 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Barnett.
Rewell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Barnett shoots in looking for a takedown. Rewell tries to sprawl out of it but Barnett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rewell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rewell connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like Brock Barnett has been cut.
Rewell throws a quick inside leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rewell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barnett is defended easily by Rewell.
Alexander Rewell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Barnett.
Barnett blocks a head kick by Rewell.
Barnett moves in looking to clinch but Rewell pushes him off.
Rewell fires out a quick counter leg kick but Barnett just manages to avoid it.
Barnett has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rewell finds it's way round the side to connect with Barnett's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Barnett moves into the clinch successfully.
I was talking to Rewell's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The referee calls for Rewell to work.
Rewell throws a knee to the head but misses.
Rewell scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Come on Rewell - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Rewell misses with a punch to the body.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rewell - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A right hand to the body from Rewell.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rewell doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Rewell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Barnett tries to pull guard but Rewell won't allow it.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Rewell.
Rewell misses with a hook to the ribs.

Rewell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rewell fakes the leg kick and cracks Barnett in the body.
Barnett throws a shot from downtown. Rewell moves away and avoids it.
Rewell lands a nice looking kick to the body. Barnett takes a step back to recover.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barnett wants to clinch.
Barnett looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rewell is fending him off so far but Barnett persists. Nope, Rewell circles away and we're back to standing.

Barnett closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rewell keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Barnett is working for a kimura but Rewell is defending it quite comfortably.
Rewell wants to get back to full guard.

Barnett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Barnett seems to be working for a kimura but Rewell defends the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Barnett prevents Rewell from improving his position.

Barnett looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Barnett is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barnett is working for a kimura but Rewell is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Rewell dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brock Barnett's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Barnett tries to clinch but Rewell moves out of range.
Rewell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A left lands for Rewell.
Brock Barnett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barnett takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Barnett tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rewell defends well and Barnett ends up having to push Rewell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rewell ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Barnett tries for a takedown but Rewell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rewell lands with a right hand.


Barnett is rocked!
Brock Barnett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rewell is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Barnett flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Barnett is out cold! Rewell holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alexander Rewell!
