PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnell Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Yoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Donnell Mclean has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Donnell Mclean seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donnell Mclean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Yoma!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mclean will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Yoma looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Mclean looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yoma is fending him off so far but Mclean persists. Nope, Yoma circles away and we're back to standing.
Yoma wants to counter with a clinch but Mclean pushes him away.

Mclean fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Yoma to the ground. Mclean is now in Yoma's guard.

Yoma is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Yoma looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mclean is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclean has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yoma is proving hard to escape from.

Matt Yoma is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yoma throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mclean tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Yoma is in Mclean's guard.

Yoma must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Yoma postures up in Mclean's guard and throws a big left but Mclean blocks it.

Mclean is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mclean has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mclean stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Yoma is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mclean is staying active.

Mclean looking to break Yoma's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Yoma remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Mclean will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Donnell Mclean.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mclean, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
