PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Tupper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nir Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Tupper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nir Sosa!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tupper is looking to clinch.
Sosa with the counter takedown but Tupper avoids it easily.
Tupper throws a head kick that misses

and Sosa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tupper wants to get back to his feet.

Tupper scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Sosa manages to mount him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sosa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tupper is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Sosa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tupper really wants to buck Sosa off and get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tupper is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Sosa has taken his back!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tupper tries to close the distance and clinch but Sosa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And Sosa tries to counter it with a takedown but Tupper pushes his down on his head and steps out.

so Sosa counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Tupper wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sosa manages to pass to side control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tupper lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Tupper.

and Sosa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sosa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sosa prevents Tupper from getting back to his feet.
Tupper is wriggling around but Sosa manages to pass to half guard.

Tupper tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Sosa manages to move to mount!
Tupper is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Let's hope that Sosa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Tupper is trying to stand but he's just given Sosa his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nir Sosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Tupper closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sosa is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Sosa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sosa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Tupper defends it well.

and Sosa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tupper's guard.

Sosa is standing up over Tupper. Tupper looks to escape but Sosa dives into side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Tupper is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sosa has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Sosa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Tupper tries a low kick but Sosa avoids it.

I would just about give that final round to Nir Sosa.
I've got Sosa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
