The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Suarez.
Pilon misses with a right hand
and Suarez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pilon's guard.
Suarez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Suarez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Pilon has his hands on Suarez's head, controlling the position.

Pilon tightens his grip and picks Suarez up, before dumping him to the ground. Suarez manages to land in guard.
Pilon looks winded!
Pilon postures up in Suarez's guard and throws a big left but Suarez blocks it.
Pilon won't allow Suarez to sweep him here.

Suarez is looking to sweep but instead, Pilon has passed into half guard.
Suarez tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pilon has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Pilon with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Suarez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Suarez is looking to improve his position but Pilon isn't that keen on the idea.

Pilon prevents Suarez from getting the reversal.
Pilon has hold of Suarez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Suarez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pilon prevents Suarez from getting the reversal.
We've been informed that Pilon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pilon is landing with some decent strikes but Suarez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Suarez is rocked!
Marcellus Suarez's cut is getting worse.
Pilon unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Suarez wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Pilon celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
