Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Troll Skog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romolo Barros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romolo Barros has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Troll Skog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Romolo Barros!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barros drives through with a takedown into guard.
Barros wants to control from the top but Skog keeps moving.

Barros has gone for a leg lock! Skog slips out almost immediately though and dives into Barros's guard.

Barros throws his legs up looking for a submission but Skog uses it to pass to side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Barros is trying to improve his position.

Skog stands up.

Barros shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Barros is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Skog is just riding it out for now. Barros eventually gives up the hold.
Skog gets back to full guard.

Skog manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barros manages to get himself to full guard.

Barros is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Skog throws a nice looking combination but Barros bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Barros shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Skog works his way to full guard. Good work.
Skog is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Barros pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Skog is keeping the position for now.

Barros drops back, looking for a kneebar! Skog looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Skog looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Skog!
Barros is looking for a sweep.

Skog stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Barros with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Skog to score with a decent uppercut.

Skog gets a clinch.
Barros tries to pull guard but Skog won't allow it.
Skog comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Nice elbow from Skog.
Skog misses with a knee to the head.
Skog connects with a knee to the head.
Skog has Barros pushed against the ropes.
Skog throws a knee to the head but misses.

Barros takes an elbow to the temple.
Skog unloads a knee to the mid-section. Barros lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Skog is trying to stall.
Barros tries for a takedown but Skog manages to get underhooks.
Troll Skog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Romolo Barros.
Barros takes an elbow to the forehead.
Barros tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Skog smiles and moves away.
Skog throws a right and a left that both miss.
Barros keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Skog.

Barros closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Barros seems to be working for a kimura but Skog defends the submission attempt.
Skog trying to control but Barros postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Troll Skog dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Barros fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barros shoots for a takedown but Skog saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barros shoots in looking for a takedown. Skog tries to sprawl out of it but Barros keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Skog manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Troll Skog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Romolo Barros.
Skog tests Barros's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Barros looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barros is looking to take a break and control but Skog is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barros stops Skog from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Skog regains full guard. Nicely done.

Barros is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Skog is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Skog has escaped and now he's on top!

Barros wants to control but Skog is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Skog tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A combination from Skog does no damage.

Barros will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Skog connects with a good right hand that stumbles Barros. Barros circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Barros throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Skog's waist but Skog gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barros off to one side.
Barros shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Barros looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Barros is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Skog makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Troll Skog is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Barros closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Barros lands in his opponent's guard.
Skog wants to sweep but no luck.
Barros passes Skog's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Barros is working for a kimura but Skog is defending it quite comfortably.

Barros is looking for a kimura but Skog is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Barros to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Troll Skog will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Barros misses with a takedown attempt - Skog sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Skog scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barros is on top in guard.

Barros wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Skog, who protects the arm well.

Barros swings around for an armbar but Skog sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Barros's guard.

Troll Skog is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Barros is looking for a triangle but Skog pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Barros working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Skog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Skog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barros escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Skog gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Barros is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Barros has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Skog can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Troll Skog.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Skog, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
