The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Colombu.
Gracie takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gracie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Blackstar Striking Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Gracie scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Colombu to the mat! Colombu manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Colombu has his hands on Gracie's head, controlling the position.
Colombu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Colombu has a closed guard, preventing Gracie from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Colombu can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Colombu keeps moving.
Gracie is looking to pass into half guard but Colombu pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Colombu is in guard.

Colombu gets to his feet and stands over Gracie, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Gracie felt that one! Colombu unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Gracie from any more punishment!
