Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Biek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carter Avila!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Biek shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Avila but Avila pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Avila counters with a straight right hand.

and Avila counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Avila.

Biek works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Avila seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Avila wants to sweep here but Biek controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avila throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Biek wanted to stand there but Avila had control of the position.
Biek throws an elbow that misses. Avila uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Biek's guard. Nice move by Avila!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Avila postures up in Biek's guard and throws a big left but Biek blocks it.
Biek pulls Avila in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Avila has a takedown stuffed.
Avila shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Biek pinned against the cage. Biek gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Biek throws a quick counter head kick but Avila was just out of range.
Avila rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Biek moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Biek stuffs the takedown.
Ron Biek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carter Avila.
Biek shoots in but Avila avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Avila darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Biek tries to roll over but Avila keeps him under control.

Avila thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Avila shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Biek as he avoids it easily.
Avila stalks Biek and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Biek's face. Biek staggers backwards, shaken.
Biek defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Avila.
Biek throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Avila's waist but Avila gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Biek off to one side.

Avila is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Avila escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Biek wants to take the fight to the mat but Avila manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Biek drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Avila gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Avila manages to break the clinch.
Avila doesn't manage to clinch there - Biek circles away.

Biek fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Avila to the ground. Biek is now in Avila's guard.

Biek is trying to work for a kimura but Avila is defending well.

Biek is looking to take a break and control but Avila is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Biek uses his free foot to push down on Avila's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Avila.

Avila is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Biek tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Biek throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Avila because Biek loaded up on that one.
Biek wants to control the pace but Avila is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Avila is wriggling around trying to escape.
Biek looking to control and managing it successfully.
Biek trying to control but Avila is having none of it.

Biek jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Avila is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Avila and Biek has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Biek is looking to take a break and control but Avila is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Biek is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Avila is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ron Biek will probably get the nod.

Avila moves into range and clinches up with Biek.
Avila tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Biek just stands there and leans against the cage.

Avila is looking for a sweep. Biek is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Avila keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Biek is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Biek tries to pass the half guard into mount. Avila knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Avila is not content to let Biek control the position.
Biek is taking a breather. Avila says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Biek seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Avila does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Avila pushes Biek off and gets back to his feet.
Biek tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Avila manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Avila is looking to land body kicks.
Biek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Avila as he avoids it easily.

Carter Avila comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Avila has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
