The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakamoto fails in his attempt to clinch.

Chris Santi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sakamoto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santi to the mat! Santi manages to get full guard.
Sakamoto wants to pass the guard but Santi is keeping the position.

Sakamoto drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Santi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sakamoto has Santi in his guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Santi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sakamoto had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Santi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sakamoto Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Santi's back instead.

Sakamoto is trying to stick to Santi's back but Santi is turning into Sakamoto. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sakamoto's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Santi.
